Introduction to Forever Stamps
Forever stamps are a type of postage stamp that can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of the current postal rate. They were introduced by the United States Postal Service in 2007 to provide a convenient way for customers to mail letters without having to worry about rate changes.
Forever stamps are valid for use on standard mailpieces, including letters and flats, but their use on postcards is a common question. The postal service has specific regulations regarding the use of forever stamps on postcards, which are discussed in detail below.
Using Forever Stamps on Postcards
According to the United States Postal Service, forever stamps can be used on postcards, but they must meet specific requirements. The postcard must be a standard postcard with a rectangular shape and a maximum size of 6 inches by 4.25 inches.
Additionally, the postcard must have a postage area that is specifically designated for postage stamps. If the postcard meets these requirements, a forever stamp can be used to mail it, but it is essential to check the current postal rate for postcards to ensure the correct postage is applied.
Postal Regulations and Requirements
The United States Postal Service has specific regulations regarding the use of postage stamps on mailpieces, including postcards. The postal service requires that all mailpieces, including postcards, have the correct postage applied to them before they can be mailed.
In addition to using the correct postage, mailpieces must also meet specific size and shape requirements. The postal service has different rates for different types of mail, including letters, flats, and postcards, so it is essential to check the current postal rates before mailing a postcard with a forever stamp.
Benefits of Using Forever Stamps on Postcards
Using forever stamps on postcards can provide several benefits, including convenience and cost savings. Forever stamps can be purchased at the current postal rate and used on postcards at a later date, without having to worry about rate changes.
Additionally, forever stamps can be used on postcards that are mailed internationally, which can be beneficial for individuals who frequently mail postcards to friends and family abroad. However, it is essential to check the current postal rate for international postcards to ensure the correct postage is applied.
